The time may finally be here to part with the 1932 Ardun powered roadster.
I’ve had this vehicle longer than any vehicle in my life, over 13 years plus the build time. I’ve always been asked how do you find an original Ardun. The fact of the matter is typically you don’t find them, they find you. This engine came to me by way of a Hemmings ad that was not specific to the Ardun engine. I received a call from a guy in Illinois that said he had one that he had just removed it from a 1933 Ford roadster. Within a short period of time I was on it.
Now that I had it, the plan to build the best 32 roadster I could with correct vintage hot rod parts from the 50s are used a combination of original Ford and Brookville parts to come up with what I consider a bondo free car. It took many years to round up all of the rare parts on this car. Vintage Halibrand Quick change, magnesium wheels, Hilborn injection 471 blower, a one off Art Chrisman intake manifold, Duvall windshield, and a close drive transmission worthy of the task that provide strength, and an overdrive to make the car roadworthy.
This car has traveled thousands of miles in a few configurations. It has gone through the white wall phase, those are gone, but have the original 4 an 8 inch Halibrand magnesium wheels. During that time car won many awards, including Builders Choice at both Goodguys and NSRA events. It was included in the Surf City exhibit at Chicago Auto Rama and many many others.
If you’ve been around these types of cars you know this is an expensive proposition, to first locate all of these parts and have a running, driving, original Ardun for this long. I have been into hot rods for over 40 years and have only seen a handful of original running Ardun’s. If you are concerned about the name on the side, as they say “the name can be changed to protect the innocent.” The Belmont Super Service can be removed, although it is hand painted and would be a shame. It goes without saying this will be an expensive purchase for someone, but if you would like to discuss you can contact me through this website.
Please no dreamers, some partial trades may be considered.
